From Singapore to Thailand and Malaysia, here's our pick of notable sports events you won't want to miss for the second half of the year

Can you believe we are into the second half of 2024? Nope, we can't either.


Perhaps you have made yourself some new year's resolutions at the start of 2024 to complete a marathon, or you're simply looking to check off your bucket list of items by 2024 but have yet to do so.


Fret not, because while there might be fewer mass participation events overall in the first half of 2024 compared to the year before, there are still plenty to choose from for the remainder of this year.


Here we help you pick out six notable events in Southeast Asia (and of course Singapore) you may wish to consider attending or joining with a friend! Are you ready? Then dive right in!

HYROX Singapore EXPO


Date: 31 August - 1 September 2024

Venue: Singapore EXPO


Back for its second year, the Cigna Healthcare HYROX Singapore took the Singapore Sports Hub by storm this past weekend, gathering a groundbreaking attendance of 12,500 racers and spectators and setting a new record as the largest one-day race in HYROX history, surpassing the previous record attained at last year’s debut race.


An all-inclusive fitness race, the event saw all types of athletes from around the globe spanning from seasoned pros to enthusiastic beginners, all putting in their best effort even in the face of the most physically demanding stations, no matter the category, with friends and family cheering them on.

Garmin Run Asia Series: Singapore and Malaysia


Date: 13 October & 27 October 2024

Venue: Marina Barrage, Singapore (Singapore), Dataran Putrajaya (Malaysia)


Happening in the month of October, Garmin Run Asia Series will be making its inaugural bow in the beautiful island city of Singapore this October 13 at Marina Barrage! This comes just two weeks before Garmin Run Asia Series, Malaysia on the 27 October at Dataran Putrajaya, with the two cities part of 9 cities and over 58,000 runners in Asia celebrating Garmin's 35th anniversary with the event.

With over 12,000 participants in the previous edition in Malaysia, runners can choose once again from either of 5km, 10km or 21km to beat yesterday, and go from Zero to Hero.

ASICS META: Time: Trials Thailand


Date: 22 September 2024

Venue: Suphachalasai National Stadium, Bangkok


Back for its third edition, the ASICS: META: Time: Trials will be returning to the city of Bangkok, Thailand this September.


Debuting in 2022, the global edition of the ASICS: META: Time: Trials was first held in Malaga, Spain in April while the Southeast Asian edition began in Bangkok, Thailand on 4 September 2022.

The regional 10km road race for athletes is designed to bring together the running community to race and for each runner to beat his or her own Personal Bests (PB).


Participants at this year's META: Time: Trials can expect to redefine their personal limits and celebrate the spirt of achievement with the race starting and finishing at the Suphachalasai National Stadium.

Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Grand Prix


Date: 20-22 September 2024

Venue: Marina Bay Street Circuit


Looking to sit back and enjoy rather than run or cycle? Then you will want to consider this year's Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Grand Prix, happening from 20-22 September in the Marina Street Circuit.

Great Eastern Women's Run 2024


Date: 27 October 2024

Venue: Singapore Sports Hub


Building on last year's edition which witnessed over 9,000 runners, Great Eastern Women's Run 2024 will take place on Sunday, 27 October at the Singapore Sports Hub and is Singapore’s only all women’s running event.


The event features six race categories for participants to choose from, including: the by-invite-only 21.1km half marathon for local elite runners; the 21.1 km half marathon, 10km and 5km runs for members of the public; the 2km ‘Mummy and Me’ run for ladies with daughters aged five to 12; and the 100m Princess Dash for 3- to 6-year-olds.

For young moms who are runners, the the 2km ‘Mummy + Me’ and the 100m Princess Dash categories are fun opportunities to bond with their daughters, and they can also look forward to exclusive GEWR X Cinnamoroll design merchandise from race tees and bibs, to medals as their GEWR race entitlements.

Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon


Date: 29 Nov - 1 Dec 2024

Venue: F1 Pit Building


The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon is the biggest mass participation run in Singapore annually, and an iconic national event - often seen as the highlight on Singapore’s sporting calendar.


Every first Sunday of December, tens of thousands of participants from all over the world and all walks of life run past some of Singapore’s most iconic landmarks and vibrant skylines such as Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay and the Esplanade.


This year's event will witness the return of the popular Ekiden Race where runners can form teams of five and pass on a sash to complete the full-marathon distance as a team.
