A Division Girls

Raffles Institution made a perfect start to their 2021 campaign as they looked to continue their dominance of the division and retain their title. They trounced ACJC 5-0 in the preliminary round, while 2019 runners-up Hwa Chong International edged out a closely fought contest 3-2 in their opener against Dunman High School.

There were also wins for Nanyang JC (3-2 vs Eunoia College) and River Valley High (5-0 vs Tampines Meridian JC).

A Division Boys

ACS(I) who were runaway winners in 2019, carried on in the same vein with a very strong start, winning 5-0 against both their first opponents Eunoia JC and St Andrew's JC, to top the group after 2 games. 2019 Runners Up Nanyang JC are also off to a flawless start after 2 games to top their group, while other powerhouses RI and Hwa Chong JC also started off their campaigns with wins in their first matches.

Following the announcment of Phase 2 heightened alert on 14 May 2021, the National School Games were suspended till further notice - leaving a slightly disjointed picture in the Badminton National A division Girls and Boys draws as unfortunately, not all preliminary fixtures were completed before the suspension.

The 2019 girls’ reigning champions RI, sit second in group A, having played one fewer match (2) than SAJC (3) who are currently top of the group. The schools in the other groups have all played 2 matches each, and these are the schools on top as things stand: Group B — HCI; Group C — RVHS; Group D — NYJC.

Despite not all matches being played yet, it’s quite a familiar scene for the boys, with all the 2019 semi-finalists — ACSI, NYJC, RI and HCI — finishing at the top of their respective groups.
