12 July 2021, Singapore - Charity cycling event Ride for Rainbows is back for another edition this year, and features a new format with no fixed cycling categories with each participant empowered to ride 1KM for every heart earned or every $10 of donations raised.
The event will be held from 8 to 31 October, and funds raised will go towards food rations, education support and therapy intervention for Club Rainbow's beneficiaries.
The charity cycling event pivoted to a virtual format for the first time last year and raised close to $600,000 with the strong support of the local cycling community.
They are targeting to raise the same amount this year while raising awareness for its cause and encouraging an active lifestyle through cycling.

Support from Cycling Community
"Although we could not hold a physical event last year, we are heartened that we still received overwhelming support from the cycling community," said Dr Sashikumar Ganapthy, President of Club Rainbow.
"Many participants welcomed the flexibility of the virtual event, citing that they could ride at their own convenience and own pace. COVID or not, they are still passionate about supporting our cause.”
Ganapthy shared: “The funds raised will enable our families to live with dignity, maximise the developmental potential of our children and develop them towards their fullest potential.”
Participating for the fourth time is Thomas Tan whose son, 16-year-old Sage Tan, is a beneficiary of Club Rainbow.
Said Tan: “Sage will be riding to raise funds for the second time, having learnt to cycle only 3 years ago. Born with a rare genetic disease, he joined Club Rainbow at the age of two. Over the years, we have seen how Club Rainbow supported him and many other children with the critical services and programmes provided."
"We are excited to be part of the event and hope that the funds we raise can benefit more children," he added. "I also look forward to strengthening our father-son bond as we can spend more time together."
