This year's edition was also preceded by a Triathlon Association of Singapore (TAS) SEA Games Heats and qualifiers, as the top three athletes of Ahmad Arif Ibrahim, Ben Khoo, Nicholas Rachmadi (Men's) and Louisa Middleditch, Herlene Yu, Rachel Hew (Women's) booked their spots to represent Singapore at the year-end SEA Games in Thailand, pending due process from Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC).

The SEA Games qualifiers featured a super sprint distance comprising a 2km run, 8km ride and 1km run and proved to be a keenly fought contest among Singapore's top athletes with Tey Yi Jun disqualified after initially having crossed the finish line first for the men's category. In the women's category Rachel Hew overcame her initial mistake of running in the wrong direction in her second transition to claim third place behind Louisa Middleditch and Herlene Yu, displacing Rachel Longstaff in the process who placed fourth ahead of rising star Ng Xuanjie and the event's defending champion Yong Man Yun.
