Singapore, 30 May 2022 - The stage was set. Against the beautiful backdrop of a majestic sunrise, some 1,067 participants took to the waters of Singapore's East Coast Park in their first leg of three sports in Meta Sport's MetaSprint Series Triathlon.
It was the first time the event was held in its full physical scale, having needed to scale back over the past year due to the need for social distancing and number caps owing to the pandemic.

This included November's edition of this same event which saw the bike leg being done on stationary watt bikes - a choice that wasn't exactly every participant's favourite. More photos from the 2022 MetaSprint Series Triathlon can be found in our photo gallery here.

An interesting fact of the race would be that it comprised 40 per cent participation from locals, a significant increase from previous editions of the MetaSprint Triathlon, while 20 per cent of participants were new to triathlons, giving it their first try - suggesting that there is potential for the sport to grow among leisure athletes as well as elite athletes alike.

Pathways lined with colourful balloons and ribbons, as well as enthusiastic friends and families cheering their loved ones on, it was a welcome sight that felt both familiar and welcoming for Singapore's sporting fraternity that has been absent from our shores for too long.
Here we tell the tale of a memorable morning in pictures.
