Football legends and Singapore celebrities selection side put on a show for 2,000 strong crowd as part of Town Square's Re-Opening Celebrations, as event raises $26,000 for charity

Singapore, 21 April 2025 — The atmosphere was electric at Our Tampines Hub this past weekend as football fans, families, and local celebrity enthusiasts gathered for a thrilling charity exhibition match between the Singa Legends and a Celebrities Selection side, held as the highlight of the Town Square’s grand reopening celebrations.

In a heartwarming and high-energy clash, a 2,000 strong crowd came to witness Singapore’s football greats—Shahril Ishak, Isa Halim, Baihakki Khaizan, and Khairul Amri—lace up their boots once more to take on a team packed with local star power, including Elvin Ng, The Smiling Afro, Rishi Budhrani, and Ian Fang.

The match delivered on every front: dazzling footwork, light-hearted banter, surprise goals, and roars of laughter from the stands. For many fans, it was a nostalgic trip down memory lane, seeing the iconic Lions legends back on the field—and still very much in sync.

Meanwhile, the celebrities impressed with their energy, flair, and determination to keep up with the former pros.

Khairul Amri opened the scoring for the Singa Legends on the night.

"This was such a feel-good event,” said one spectator. “Seeing Shahril and Amri back in action, and then watching Ian Fang try to nutmeg Baihakki—it’s just brilliant!” Spirits were high both in the stands as well as on the pitch, as a make-shift Celebrity Selection side put together for this match only weathered a storm from Singapore's seasoned professionals amidst laughs and banter.

More importantly, the match served a meaningful purpose—raising a total of $26,000 for SBL Vision Family Service Centre through ticket sales, donations, and corporate support.

The funds will go toward community initiatives and charitable causes, making the fun-filled event even more impactful.

The match headlined a weekend packed with activities as part of the three-day celebration, which also featured the Fish & Co 7s Tournament—a vibrant competition across multiple age groups and skill levels.

Players from different age groups battled it out on the pitch with grit and joy, adding to the festival-like atmosphere.

All around the rejuvenated Town Square, the excitement continued with food stalls, interactive games, live performances, and activities for all ages—transforming the heart of Tampines into a buzzing hub of celebration and community connection.
