Clarence Chew clinches bronze at WTT Feeder Düsseldorf, record medal haul at ITTF World Youth Championships

10 December 2021, Singapore - Singapore's table tennis athletes continue to soar on the international circuit after an impressive few months.
First Singapore-born male olympian Clarence Chew finished joint third in the men’s doubles event at WTT Feeder Düsseldorf, Deutsches Tischtennis- Zentrum Düsseldorf, Germany, which was held from 7 to 10 December 2021.
Chew partnered Austria's Alexander Chen to overcome the pairing of Callum Evans of Wales and Sarun Yingyuenyong of Thailand 3-1, but fell to Yuta Tanaka and Jo Yokotani of Japan 1-3 in the semi-finals.
In the Men's Singles, Chew had progressed from the Round of 32 after defeating Tarek Al-Samhoury 4-2, but went down 1-4 to Steffen Mengel of Germany. He also reached the quarter finals of the Mixed Doubles with Katsiaryna Baravok of Belarus, before going down 1-3 to Cedric Meissner and Yuan Wan of Germany.

Singapore Ends 2021 ITTF World Youth Championships with Record Medal Haul
Singapore's teenage paddlers finished with three bronze medals at the ITTF World Youth Championships.
Following an impressive few months on the circuit, 15 year-old Izaac Quek scored 2 bronzes in the doubles and singles event. His team mate Ser Lin Qian, also 15, finished with a bronze medal in her singles event.
