Just two months in since Natalie Teo’s debut class as a spin instructor at Revolution Singapore, her themed classes are already becoming the talk of the town

If at your first spin class you are struggling to clip in your spin shoes to the pedals, messing up that arm combination, and feeling relieved the lights are completely turned off for this track so no one can see you turn that resistance knob a little to the left?
Do not worry, you are not alone.
Even for spin instructor, Natalie Teo, her first spin class experience was not a good one.
“Truth be told, I didn't enjoy my first spin class! It was super confusing and tough riding to the rhythm with all the hand movements. I also felt very intimidated as I was right at the front sidebar, so everyone could see me struggle. My shoe got unclipped halfway as well”, said Teo.

That was four years ago. Today, Teo is a spin instructor at Revolution Singapore and teaches as many as 9 to 14 classes a week if her schedule allows.
It is hard not to get pulled into the world of indoor rhythmic cycling when each class is empowering and radiates good vibes, all while getting a high intensity and effective workout in.
The darkness of the room, electrifying lights and energising music makes it easy to block out everything else and focus only on two things - yourself and completing the workout.

Teo shared, “I always tell my riders that this workout is theirs. There’s no need to worry about judgement, and as long as they try their best, that is good enough.
It is also a reminder to myself to slow down and remember that as long as I am moving forward no matter how little or slowly, it is good enough.”
When not at Revolution, Teo is also busy with her career as a Financial Advisor. As a Financial Advisor, she finds that it is important for her to keep fit and healthy as she handles things like health insurance.
An early morning spin class also helps Teo start her day right and feeling good. “I feel more energised and rejuvenated especially if I have a class in the morning. It keeps me grounded and motivates me at the same time.”
Despite her bubbly and confident persona, Teo had to battle self-doubt on her journey to becoming a spin instructor.
She recounted, “I once got told I don’t really look the part and wasn’t a good fit for another studio. Coming to Revolution, I wasn’t the fittest in my training batch and my stamina and endurance was the worst. This meant that I had to train twice as hard just to be half as good.”
“On top of that, I felt that most of my obstacles were internal obstacles like self-doubt and not feeling good enough to make the cut”, she added.
However, the strong support system she had at Revolution Singapore and constant encouragement from her trainer and peers helped her push through.

Though it has only been two months since Teo’s debut class as an instructor, her themed classes are fast becoming the talk of the town. Her theme rides offer a unique experience with upbeat and catchy songs which include Chinese Techno (Manyao), Thai and Vietnamese hits.
“Themed rides are quite hyped because it attracts people who pretty much love the same kind of music so they aren’t afraid to cheer or go crazy!”
If you are looking for 45 minutes in your day to go a little crazy, get an effective workout in and leave feeling good, check out her classes at Revolution.
