Table Tennis: Ser Lin Qian wins World Table Tennis Youth Contender U15 Girls Title

Double Joy for Youth Paddlers as Ser Lin Qian wins Girls U15 title and Zhou Jingyi takes silver in Girls U19 Singles

31 October 2021, Lignano, Italy - There was more good news for Singapore Table Tennis today, as Ser Lin Qian won the Girls U15 Singles title at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Youth Contender championships, while her teammate Zhou Jingyi landed runners-up in the U19 category.


Ser emerged triumphant after a keenly contested final against Irish opponent Sophie Earley, winning 3-2.

She had earlier emulated her team mate Izaac Quek's performances in the Boys U15 competition by going all the way to the final unbeaten, without a dropping a single set, overcoming Nikolina Milicevic (CRO) 3-0, Elena Schinko (AUT) 3-0 in the Group stage; Giulia Varveri (ITA) 3-0 in the Round of 16; Celine Anubis Panholzer (AUT) 3-0 in the quarter finals, and Alice Nilsson (SWE) 3-0 in the semi-finals.


In the U19s girls competition, Zhou Jingyi had to overcome Leah Tveit Muskantor (SWE) 3-1 in the Round of 16, Ainhoa Cristobal (ESP) 3-1 in the quarter finals and Nicole Arlia (ITA) in the semi-finals to book a place in the final.


Zhou fell 1-3 to Liu Yangzi of Austria to clinch second for Team Singapore.
