Shaun Goh Smashes Singapore 10km Road Record in London for Second National Mark in 10 Days

LONDON — Singapore distance runner Shaun Goh has rewritten the men’s 10km national road record, clocking 30:16 at the Vitality London 10,000 to lower his own national mark by 25 seconds.

His previous benchmark of 30:41 was established in July at the Gold Coast Marathon race weekend.

The achievement caps an extraordinary stretch of racing for Goh, marking his second national record in just eight days after lowering his own 5km road national mark on 19 September.

Goh battled both the clock and a deceptively demanding route through the streets of the British capital to seal the record.

“Really happy to come away with another personal best and national record this week,” said Goh. “Training has been building well, and I was really looking forward to showing that fitness across these two races.”

Reflecting on the race execution, Goh noted that the undulating course tested his resolve early on.

“Conditions were great today, although the course was definitely hillier than I expected. I was actually pretty cooked by the halfway mark, but fought really hard through the second half to hold it together and save as much time as possible,” he shared.

“I ran two races in eight days, and each came with their own challenges, and I’m really proud of the way I responded to them. It’s really exciting, as I know there’s more in me.”

Goh will not be resting on his laurels for long. He will return to altitude training in St. Moritz for a focused preparation block before targeting a fast outing at the Valencia Half Marathon in late October.
