Jakarta Running Festival 2026: SportPlus Heads to Indonesia's Biggest Running Celebration

Southeast Asia’s running calendar shifts into high gear next week as the Jakarta Running Festival (JRF) 2026 takes over the vibrant streets of Indonesia’s capital from 22 to 25 October 2026.

Serving as an identified Singapore media and host partner, SportPlus.sg will be flying in a six-member delegation comprising five runners and an on-ground media crew to bring audiences front-row coverage of the spectacle.

Organised by Kelompok Lari Anak Bangsa (KLAB), JRF has rapidly established itself as one of the region’s premier running events. Boasting over 37,000 registered participants representing more than 50 countries, the multi-day festival carries official World Athletics recognition—featuring a Gold Label for the myBCA Jakarta Half Marathon and a Label for the Hydroplus Marathon.

The SportPlus Delegation: Ready to #ShowUp

Anchored around JRF’s rallying campaign theme, "Show Up!"—a reminder that every hurdle is a call to take the next step—the SportPlus lineup features a dynamic mix of distance creators and elite competitive talent taking on the streets of Jakarta across multiple categories:

  • Sebastian Cheong (@imsebastianrun) – myBCA Jakarta Half Marathon (21.1KM): Creator tackling the half-marathon distance alongside the regional pack.

  • John Yeong (@thejohnyeong) – myBCA Jakarta Half Marathon (21.1KM): Founder of SportPlus Media, leading the contingent and taking on the 21.1 km Gold Label course.
  • Samuel Teo (@xtriderunning) – Samsung Galaxy 5K: Documenting the electric community energy and speed over the 5 km route.

  • Elaine (@eloonytunes) – Samsung Galaxy 5K: Soaking up the festival sights, sounds, and beginner-friendly race-day vibes.

  • Xuan Jie (@xxuanjie) – Samsung Galaxy 5K: Singapore national athlete testing his speed in a packed regional field.

  • Aldrich (@richmarkable) – Media Crew: Directing trackside cameras, capturing athlete POVs, and running live on-ground reporting for @sportplus.sg.

What Makes JRF 2026 a Must-Watch Event?

Beyond the competitive distance races, JRF 2026 brings an immersive city festival atmosphere directly to the running community:

  • The JRF Expo: Spanning 130+ brand booths and expecting over 75,000 visitors, the expo is set to unite more than 300 Indonesian running crews alongside major international sportswear giants.

  • Hero Drop: adidas will showcase the Adizero Evo SL (JRF 2026 Edition)—a limited tribute release celebrating Jakarta’s running culture on the foundation of a global racing silhouette.

  • Zona Sorak Cheering Culture: Transforming designated streets into electric open-air block parties, JRF’s signature Zona Sorak cheering zones are primed to roar for domestic and foreign runners alike.

  • Accessible Start Times & City Beats: Engineered for spectators and runners, the event runs concurrently with South Jakarta’s culinary and cultural pulse rather than closing the city off.
