Most of Singapore knows the National Stadium for its big nights: the National Day Parade, the SEA Games, the BYD Singapore International Marathon and stadium concerts by BTS, Coldplay and U2. Fewer runners know that on a quiet weekday, the same 55,000-seat dome hides one of the city's best rain-proof running loops.
Whether you are dodging an afternoon downpour, logging easy kilometres before the office, or simply want to say you have lapped the National Stadium, here is your complete guide to running and visiting it.

Running the Great Eastern Promenade
1. The Rain-Proof 5K
- The Session: Six laps of the promenade comes to 5.3 km. It is a clean, measured distance with no traffic lights and no roads to cross.
- Best For: Wet-weather days, when the park connectors turn into puddles and you still want your run in the bank.
2. The 10K Lap Count
- The Session: Eleven and a half laps gets you to 10 km. Break it into blocks of three or four laps to keep your head in the game.
- The Experience: The shelter keeps the sun off your back, which makes the promenade one of the few places in the city where a midday run is a sensible idea.
3. Run Club Nights
- The Session: The Great Eastern Run Club, run with the Running Department, leads guided community runs around The Kallang.
- The Tip: Dates are announced on The Kallang's channels, so check there before you head down.
Practical Runner's Tips
- Check for Events First: The promenade is open to the public on non-event days only. Before a concert, a football international or a race weekend, it is out of bounds.
- Count in 888s: Every lap is 888 m, so it pays to set your watch to manual laps or simply count on your fingers.
- Share the Space: You will pass walkers and families on the promenade, so keep hard efforts for quieter hours and stick to one side.
- Catch a Big Night: From HYROX race weekends to the Lions' November clashes with Brazil and Paraguay, our coverage of what is on at the stadium lives in Sports News. Read our recap of AIA HYROX Singapore 2026 at the National Stadium.
Getting There & Transit Logistics
