Few tracks in Singapore are as easy to reach as Choa Chu Kang Stadium. Step out of Yew Tee MRT and you are practically on the start line. It is the west's busy community track, home to annual inter-school athletics meets and, during the season, Singapore Premier League 2 football under the lights.
Whether you are a northwest runner looking for measured laps, a student getting ready for sports day, or a parent waiting out a training session with a few kilometres of your own, here is your guide to Choa Chu Kang Stadium.

Training at Choa Chu Kang Stadium: Sessions That Work
1. The Commuter Session
- The Session: Ride the North-South Line to Yew Tee, run 5 km of easy laps, and be back on the train within the hour.
- Best For: Anyone who commutes along the North-South Line and wants a measured run with zero detours.
2. The IPPT 2.4 km
- The Session: Six laps of a standard 400 m track. Warm up with two easy laps and a few strides first.
- The Tip: Run the first 400 m a touch slower than your target pace, then build. Negative splits win IPPTs.
3. The 200 m Repeats
- The Session: Ten repeats of 200 m at a fast but relaxed effort, with a 200 m walk or jog between each.
- The Experience: Short, sharp and very satisfying on a track, where every rep measures exactly the same.
Practical Runner's Tips
- Check the Meet Calendar: On inter-school meet days and during Singapore Premier League 2 fixtures, the stadium will be busy.
- Track Etiquette: ActiveSG's rules ask runners to go anticlockwise and overtake on the right. When field training is on, keep out of lanes 1 to 4.
- Weather Calls: In lightning or thunder, everyone has to leave open areas.
- Hiring for Groups: Any organised track and field activity needs a prior booking with ActiveSG.
Getting There & Transit Logistics
- By MRT: Yew Tee (NS5) is the closest station, about 100 m from the stadium. Choa Chu Kang (NS4/BP1) is about 1.4 km away.
- By Bus: The Yew Tee Stn stop on Choa Chu Kang Drive (45321) is served by 302, 307, 455 and 979.
