MOE (Evans) Stadium

A short walk from the Botanic Gardens, MOE (Evans) Stadium is one of the city's best-kept running secrets, mainly because it is not always open. It is a school facility managed by Sport Singapore, and the public can use it only outside school hours. Know the windows, though, and you have a quiet track right in the heart of town.

Whether you live around Bukit Timah, work near Newton, or are a student athlete looking for a weekend session, here is your guide to MOE (Evans) Stadium.

Training at MOE (Evans) Stadium: Sessions That Work

1. The After-Work Interval Set

  • The Session: Doors open at 6pm on weekdays. Try 6 x 800 m at 5K effort with a 400 m jog between each.
  • Best For: Office workers along the Downtown and Circle Lines, with Botanic Gardens and Stevens stations both close by.

2. The Sunday Morning Long Intervals

  • The Session: Sunday is the one morning the track opens at 7am. Try 4 x 2 km at half-marathon pace with a 400 m jog between each.
  • The Experience: Run it early, then cool down with a walk in the Botanic Gardens, a short stroll away.

Practical Runner's Tips

  • Learn the Windows: On weekdays the track does not open to the public until 6pm, and on Saturdays not until 2pm. Turning up in the morning will only get you a locked gate.
  • Track Etiquette: ActiveSG's rules ask runners to go anticlockwise and overtake on the right. When field training is on, keep out of lanes 1 to 4. There is no cycling, skating or pets on the track.
  • Hiring for Groups: Any organised track and field activity needs a prior booking with ActiveSG.
  • Weather Calls: In lightning or thunder, everyone has to leave open areas.

Getting There & Transit Logistics

  • By MRT: Botanic Gardens (CC19/DT9) is about 500 m from the stadium as the crow flies. Stevens (DT10/TE11) is about 600 m away.
  • By Bus: The stops on Bukit Timah Road (41011) and Dunearn Road (41019) near Kheam Hock Road are served by 48, 67, 151, 153, 154, 156, 170 and 186.
